SEE MOROCCO FROM ALL SIDES
Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Azrou, and Erfoud, Morocco
October 23 to November 6, 2013
HIGHLIGHTS
- Explore many sights and cities of Morocco
- Experience a unique overnight home stay with a Berber family
- Ride a camel through the desert sands
- Learn a lot about Morocco from experienced guides and leaders
- Enjoy delicious traditional foods
This unusual FF experience, planned jointly by fledgling Moroccan clubs and a veteran tour provider (Experience It!) offers more travel than a typical FF exchange. By comfortable coach we will see a wide spectrum of the country’s attractions, from mountains and gorges to ancient walled communities to desert life and, of course, opportunities to explore colorful, exotic markets. Our four home stays, two in Rabat and two in Azrou, afford a genuine Moroccan home experience with warm hosts but perhaps fewer Western amenities. We will sleep in a Berber house in Marrakech and spend the remaining nights in Western style hotels - unless of course one chooses to do the optional night in a tent in the desert! We will experience a traditional wedding party and meet with local Moroccan leaders. Our final dinner is at Rick’s Café in Casablanca.
$2,111 USD. Includes FFI and host fees, transportation within Morocco, hotels, guides and most activities. Contact ED for details.

LEND A HELPING HAND WITH HUMANITARIAN PROJECTS IN TANZANIA AND BURUNDI
Iringa and Zanzibar,Tanzania; Bujumbura, Burundi
October5 to 20, 2013
HIGHLIGHTS
- An opportunity to participate in humanitarian projects in the areas of education, healthcare and agriculture.
- Travel through part of Tanzania to witness some of the wildlife in their natural habitat.
- A countryside tour and safari to Zanzibar
We are excited about this exchange as it offers a unique opportunity for ambassadors to share their expertise in meaningful projects as we visit the Friendship Force clubs of Bujumbura, Burundi and Iringa, Tanzania. It exemplifies the mission of FFI which is to promote global understanding across the barriers that separate people.
The most common needs are in education and health care. But expertise in any field can be put to use – agriculture, management, business, environment or public service to name a few. We aim to create a partnership between the ambassador(s) and an individual or group to focus on an activity the host club suggests. As an example, a nurse ambassador may shadow a nurse at work in a hospital or clinic and then be available for a discussion and Q&A period with a group of nurses or prepare a lecture or discussion topic to be presented to groups of nurses. Likewise a teacher ambassador may spend time in the classroom with a teacher (English school) and follow up with a discussion on methods of teaching. The opportunities to provide assistance are endless.
As well as providing a humanitarian benefit, this method of sharing the ambassador’s expertise with the local host community will enrich to an even greater extent the ambassador’s understanding of the needs in these countries. In addition to the cultural benefits usually achieved by being home hosted, this experience will provide an even greater awareness of the current economic challenges faced by developing countries.
Although not finally set we anticipate the exchange to begin on Saturday, October 5, and the estimated cost (to be confirmed) is approximately $1,500 US. A donation for the humanitarian projects will be collected separately, and a tax receipt will be provided.
$1,500 USD. Includes FFI and host fees and a donation to humanitarian causes in Burundi and Tanzania. Does not include international airfare. Contact the ED for details.
