v      About the club: The Friendship Force of the Blue Mountains was established in late 2006 and received its official charter in February 2007.  We currently have 32 members - both couples and singles drawn from the many townships and villages in the area.  We are confident that our membership will swell to around 50 by the time our first inbound international exchange is due to arrive in Oct 2008.

v      About the region: The Blue Mountains covers an area of around 1436 square kilometres and is part of the Great Dividing Range that runs up the eastern side of Australia.  Situated approx 100 kms west of Sydney the region is rich in history, once considered an impassable barrier, the Blue Mountains is now a major gateway to Western New South Wales.  The grandeur of the Blue Mountains lies in deep gorges, dramatic cliff lines, waterfalls and stunning vistas. The climate of the Blue Mountains is somewhat more temperate than Sydney.  During the winter months (June, July, August), the average temperature in the Upper Mountains is around 5°C, while in summer (December, January, February) the average temperature reaches around 18°C. The LowerMountains have a much warmer climate, ranging between an average of 16°C in winter and 29°C in the summer months.  We enjoy 4 distinct seasons, which would allow hosting between March and November however Spring and Autumn would be the most favourable time for incoming exchanges. The region includes the City of the Blue Mountains as well as the spectacular WorldHeritageBlue MountainsNational Park which gained this recognition in 2002 because of the international significance of its natural and cultural heritage.  As well as the spectacular scenery visitors to the area can enjoy the many local attractions including bushwalking, annual festivals, galleries, fine dining, markets, antique shops, gardens, adventure sports, golf - and a visit to the famous Three Sisters and so much more.
